PROJECT MEETING

SUMMARY OF THE FIRST MEETING IN SPAIN

NOVEMBER 2010
The first meeting of this Project was made from the 30th November to 2nd of December.
Our partners from Turkey arrived first but unfortunately our partners from Poland couldn’t arrive on time for our first day of meeting.
On Tuesday 30th we began with a welcoming ceremony at our school. In that ceremony we offer to our Turkish partners a sample of our traditional dance, music and a video presentation of our school CEIP Albaicín.
Then, we had an Andalusian breakfast in our staff room: bread with olive oil, sugar, tomatoes and sausages.
After this break, we visited the classrooms and all the units of the school.
In the afternoon we went to visit one of the most important wineries in Cadiz, called Barbadillo Winery. There we learnt about the production of wine and other spirits drinks. At the end of the visit they offered us a tasting of some of their wines accompanied by some typical food.
Next, we went to have lunch “tapas” to the main square in Sanlúcar called “Plaza Cabildo”.  After this, we had some coffee in a coffee shop placed at the top of a hotel. This place offered us a delightful view of Sanlúcar de Barrameda and it coast.
On Wednesday 1st of December we had with us our Polish partners and we repeat the visit to the school units.
We continued the day working on the project during all the morning. This day we had another Andalusian breakfast, this time eating “churros” with chocolate.
In the afternoon we went to visit Sanlúcar de Barrameda Major. She received us at the city hall and welcomed our visitors from Turkey and Poland. We took advantage of the place the city hall is located, a palace, to make a guided visit to it.
After this, we went to visit the auditorium, which is located in an old church and also offer a nice view of Sanlúcar from its top floor.
We had lunch in a restaurant called “El fogón de Mariana” where we could taste traditional meat dishes.
This day we had coffee in “Bajo de Guía” a famous place next to the “Guadalquivir” river mouth.
On the 2nd day of December we begun the day visiting the food market of the city, to show our visitors some samples of the food we use to eat. Then, we went to school to finish our work on the project.
That day we had lunch at the school, we could taste typical Spanish food: “paella”, “salmorejo”, marinated octopus, etc”.
We finished the day visiting the bullring. It was an unforgettable experience.
